Merry Christmas
Christmas is an annual Christian holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus of Nazareth. It is celebrated on December 25, but this date is not known to be Jesus’ actual birthday, and may have initially been chosen to correspond with either the day exactly nine months after some early Christians believed Jesus had been conceived.
For the Pinoys/Filipinos, Christmas eve or “Bisperas ng Pasko” on December 24th is celebrated with the Midnight Mass, and immediately after, the much-anticipated Noche Buena(“the traditional Christmas Eve Feast”). Family members dine together at around 12 midnight on traditional Noche Buena fare, which includes: queso de bola, Tsokolate(a hot chocolate drink), and hamon. Some families would also open presents/gifts at this time. But the most important for the Filipinos in Christmas and New Year is to have the family complete and happy. Many people say that even there is no food and money but if the family is complete, they would be happier.
